According to them, teachers are limited in connections with their students using social networks like Facebook or Twitter. These rules currently have a status of “strong recommendations” with no consequences for disobedience.

School Closing is a Violation of The Contracts

School Closing

A city decision to shuffle the staff of 24 schools this summer has caught the attention of the union that is representing public school principals and teachers. According to the union, the plan is just an attempt to close the schools and be rid of its personnel. Furthermore, union believes that it is a violation of their contract. In effect the union has asked the court, during a conference last Monday, to block personnel decisions regarding the 24 schools.

New Methods to Improve Reading and Writing at Middle Schools


The effort to improve the poorly performing middle school students has started years ago and it remains a continuous drive. Modification of educational strategies is what New York City aims for. To help middle schools in a better way, the focus will be set on enhancing the reading and writing skills of students at middle schools. The plan, started in 2008, now enters the second phase of a campaign. This is done by the City Council and Education Department to support the performance of students. The total of 51 lowest performing middle schools was produced, and after 3 years, the council and the department took the appropriate approach and moved forward to a new batch of eighteen middle schools. The teachers will be trained for their literacy instruction for the students who read at a 3rd or 4th grade level.

In continuing the quest to help America to lead the world again in college graduates from the department has invited the community for higher education to be able to get the best practices. Furthermore, the department wants to impart to the students in being able to complete higher education level. Through the higher education community, the students will be able to employ the best practices to successfully complete the post secondary education. Through this invitation, some of the leading researchers are gathered together to be able to create a toolkit for the institutions to be used as reference in achieving higher education.
